Smells Like Grunge As its name suggests, Smells Like Grunge is a Tumblr music blog devoted to all things grunge. While the actual website may be passe, the women who dominated thousands of Tumblr dashboards are timeless. If you’re a fan of grunge music, or if you’re simply curious about this musical movement, then check out these five Tumblr music blogs devoted to all things grunge. Despite the shift from colorful tights and mesh long sleeves to blunt bangs and shaggy mullets, the songs that fueled hours of scrolling have reentered popular culture. Other people need music to get things out and maybe that’s just where I’m coming from, you know, when things weren’t easy for me, growing up. Many of these women haven’t stopped crafting hits since their Tumblr popularity. Some people, -its background music but other people need it to survive. The women who dominated Tumblr dashboards, hashtags and lyrical photo edits were and continue to be some of the most influential of all time, especially during their 2021 revival. Some of my favorite early 2010 tumblr grunge tracks can be found on this playlist. Metal music of this time was made up of metal hair bands: Warrant. Seattle bands began to mix metal and punk rock. Tumblr grunge gives current teens and young adults a nostalgic feeling. Grunge music began in Seattle, Washington in the mid-80s. Not only did these emerging bands get publicity but people revisited the music that started it all. Grimes was stealing hyperpop hearts, and Charli XCX gave angsty teens anthems of rebellion mixed with classic pop sounds. Tumblr became a place where grunge became a renewed aesthetic that people could die for. What can only be described as a pastel version of the classic ’90s grunge defined by Kurt Cobain and Nirvana swept. Between 20, women such as Marina And The Diamonds (now known as MARINA) and Lana Del Rey were dominating the Tumblr dashboard. Sky Ferreira largely popularized the soft grunge aesthetic on Tumblr.

Now that the scene revival of 2019 has somewhat subsided, the soft grunge pinks and deep blues of the Tumblr era are back in full swing.
